About the film

H is for Hawk (2025) is a powerful and beautifully filmed drama based on the acclaimed memoir by writer and naturalist Helen Macdonald.

Following the sudden death of her beloved father, Helen finds herself overwhelmed by grief and increasingly disconnected from the life around her. Seeking comfort and a sense of purpose, she turns to the ancient art of falconry and begins the challenging task of training a fierce young goshawk named Mabel.

As Helen teaches Mabel to hunt and fly, their extraordinary relationship draws her deep into the natural world and forces her to confront the emotions she has tried to escape. The result is a thoughtful and deeply affecting exploration of grief, memory, healing and our connection with the wild.

Directed by Philippa Lowthorpe and starring Claire Foy as Helen, alongside Brendan Gleeson, Lindsay Duncan, Denise Gough and Sam Spruell, H is for Hawk is an intimate and visually striking story about love, loss and finding a way forward.
